Radio Show Recap with Chris Harvard
By Dirty Doug Bloom…1/10/02 Radio Show
- Chris said that the Independent scene is great right now and that
he is
working every weekend and got to go to England about a month ago,
which was
awesome.
- Harvard said that he is wrestling about twice a week because he is
working
a full time job, but wishes he were wrestling about four times a
week.
- Chris said that no one has shown any hostility towards him on the
Indy
scene from being on Tough Enough or because of the way he was
portrayed.
- Harvard said that none of the hostility towards Josh is there
anymore and
they talk sometimes and are planing on working together in the
future.
Harvard also said a lot of the hostility came from living together
and being
under the watch of the camera 24 hours a day.
- Chris said that the editing had a lot to do with his portrayal as
an evil
guy because he wasn’t all about “Win at all costs, but he wasn’t
going to
lay down for anybody.”
- Harvard said that MTV did a poor job of portraying him and he is
happy
that they kind of “had it out for him” because it gave him a great
heel
character to work with and the people really believe that that’s the
way he
really is.
- Chris said that it benefited him to have trained at Killer
Kawalskis’
school because he got to learn to take bumps there and when it
happened on
the show it was a lot less stressful, except for that incident with
Tori.
- Harvard said he has wrestled with many Indy promotions since Tough
Enough,
including Chaotic Wrestling, New England Championship Wrestling,
Millennium
Wrestling Federation, WWA New England, and more.
- Chris said that he is very lucky to live in New England because
you can
wrestle up to four nights a week here and not have to put a lot of
miles on
your car and still work a full time job. Chris also said he has been
talking with Chris Hamrick who also just moved into the New England
area and
was shocked at all the work. Chris also talks with Taylor and she
lives in
Seattle, WA where there is little or no work available, so he feels
lucky to
have this opportunity.
- Harvard said that his biggest supporters on the Indy scene have
been Hi-
Flying Chris Hamrick, The Hippie Freak Nic Richards, Chris Chetti,
Nova and
RoadDogg. Harvard said they have been as nice as can be and have
given him
all kinds of advice.
- Chris said Nova gave him advice on selling pictures.
- Harvard said he didn’t deserve to win Tough Enough because he
wasn’t ready
yet and that Maven worked hard and has done a commendable job under
a lot of
pressure with the WWF. Harvard also said that he thinks Tough Enough
isn’t
designed for a heel to win because you need a huge fan base going in
to the
WWF and a heel wouldn’t have that.
- Chris said that he feels his window of opportunity is still open
in the
WWF because he is a fresh face and a hated heel right now and it
could work
out for him to interfere in somebody’s match, like a Maven.
- Harvard said he still talks to Al Snow and Big John at least every
week or
so.
- Chris said that Big John has been great because when he did a
benefit show
for Millennium Championship Wrestling, which was for Bushwhacker
Butch, he
sent him an autographed Chris Jericho skateboard signed by Jericho
and all
of the trainers, just because he asked.
- Harvard said that Tazz is a great guy and stayed after his match
at a
house show in Lowell, MA to talk to him and give him advice about
the
business. Harvard also said that Tazz could also be a nightmare when
he
wants to be.
- Chris said hi to his buddy The Hippie Freak Nic Richards, who
called in
momentarily.
- Harvard said he was most excited when HHH came by to be a guest
trainer on
Tough Enough. Harvard said he felt very lucky to be given the
intense
speech by HHH on the show because HHH is the best in the business.
- Chris said the best part of Tough Enough was the training because
for 6
hours a day they got to hang out and learn from WWF superstars.
Chris said
it was especially good at the end because Al Snow, Jackie, Tori and
Tazz
started to treat them like friends as opposed to just trainees.
- Harvard said that his family has been very supportive of his
efforts to
become a professional wrestler.
- Chris said that he, like most of the people on the inside knew and
thought
that Nidia was going to win because she is a great wrestler and
could call
an entire match and go out there and do it. Chris also said that
Taylor was
not far behind, if at all.
- Harvard said that although some people were edited poorly, MTV did
a great
job at showing Darryl because that was exactly how he was and they
hated
him.
- Chris said that Darryl actually thought that he was good in the
ring.
Chris also said that everyone was worried that Darryl would either
hurt them
in the ring or make them pass out from the odor because he stunk.
- Harvard said that he has had many trainers and Al Snow was the
best he’s
ever had because he has amazing knowledge and an amazing way of
presenting
the information.
- Chris said that Chaotic Wrestling is a great company and they
always take
care of him when he goes there to wrestle.
- Harvard said that during the taping of Tough Enough he and Josh,
Shadrick
and Greg got to go to a Millennium Wrestling show in Stamford, CT
and were
told to keep a low profile. Harvard said the talent was great and he
is
pumped to be working one of their shows in the future.
- Chris said that he would be wrestling Kevin Landry at the MWA show
on
January 30th at Eastern Connecticut State University in Willimantic,
CT.
Chris said he saw Landry work a dark match for the WWF in
Providence, RI
over the summer.
- Chris thanks Rod and Brent for having him on and then signs off.
